What Is Considered High CBD Flower? – Strongest Strains 2023

Many CBD consumers are constantly on the hunt for the strongest, most intense flower out there, but navigating the market to find it can be a real challenge.

High CBD flower usually comes in around 15-25% in terms of its potency; most strains that reach this level of CBD are grown indoors, away from the potentially damaging stressors of the outside world and elements.

Just because a CBD flower strain is high in CBD doesn’t mean it’s the best choice, even if it seems like a better value. There are many factors to consider when selecting an ideal CBD flower product, and potency is just one of them. Let’s dive deeper into what to look for in a high CBD flower product, what to avoid, and how to find a specific strain that works for you.

What Does High CBD Flower Mean?

When we talk about “high CBD flower,” we’re referencing hemp flower that has a higher-than-average level of CBD within it. High CBD flower has usually been specifically bred and grown to be more potent than its competitors.

There is no one version of high CBD flower; what’s high for one person may be necessary to another. Regardless, though, this term can be used to describe any flower that surpasses what you can typically expect in terms of its strength.

How Many Mg Of CBD Are In a Gram of CBD Flower?

Most single grams of CBD flower contain around 100-200 mg of CBD, but to determine exactly how many individual milligrams of CBD you’re working with, you’ll need to do a bit of math.

Consider both the amount of flower you have as well as its potency to figure out the amount of CBD within as well as how many individual doses you can get out of your product.

Remember that there are 1000 mg per gram; with this in mind, you can use the percentage of CBD listed on your product’s packaging to determine how many of these 1000 mg are the cannabinoid itself.

For example:

  • 1 gram of 20% CBD hemp flower = 1000 mg of total product
  • .20 x 1000 mg = 200 milligrams of CBD

You can use this simple process to estimate how many mg of CBD are in any quantity of flower.

Is Higher CBD Percentage Better?

While stronger CBD products may technically get you more (active) product for your money, they’re not always the best option; it all depends on your personal preferences and needs.

A higher CBD percentage is certainly better if you tend to need strong doses of your product to feel its effects. A gram of 30% CBD flower, for instance, can give you more individual 10 mg doses of CBD than a 15% flower would.

But it’s also important to remember that the more potent your CBD, the more likely you may be to experience side effects, particularly if you’re new to or inexperienced with CBD.

It’s always best to use the lowest effective dose of your product and work your way up from there.

What Is Considered High CBD In Flower?

Most CBD hemp flower strains offer around 6-15% CBD, but a high CBD flower option may boast levels of CBD up to 15-25%. “High CBD flower” is usually flower that contains notably more than what’s considered average.

It’s possible to find higher levels of CBD in any type of cannabis, but strains that are this potent are almost always deliberately created, high CBD and low THC hemp flower options.

Is 15% CBD Flower Strong?

A CBD flower that clocks in around 15% falls within the range of what’s generally considered average for an effective product. While it’s not necessarily “strong,” it’s not weak either.

Much of what you’re able to easily find on the market in terms of CBD hemp flower may actually be around 15%, so it’s fair to say that this potency level is strong enough to be worth your time and money in general.

However, if a high CBD flower strain is what you’re after, you’ll be better off looking for alternative options, preferably those that hit 20% or higher.

How Many Mg Of CBD Is In 15% Flower?

In each gram of 15% CBD hemp flower, you can expect around 150 mg of CBD to be present.

Using the math procedure we discussed above, we can break down the contents of this sort of flower like so:

  • 1 gram of flower = 1000 mg of flower total
  • .15 x 1000 mg = 150 mg of CBD found within the flower

What Is The Strongest CBD Flower You Can Buy?

With CBD hemp flower strains always growing and changing to meet the needs of an evolving market, it’s hard to say definitively what the absolute strongest option out there is. In terms of numbers, the strongest CBD flower you can buy is likely around 25%.

It is possible to find strains or individual batches of a strain that surpass this amount, but in general, something around this value goes above and beyond the norm for CBD flower.

Can You Get 100% CBD Flower?

There really is no such thing as 100% CBD flower, but only by necessity; it’s simply not possible for something like flower to be entirely made up of CBD while still remaining hemp flower.

Think of CBD like a single (yet crucial) ingredient in a cake. Creating a finished product that doesn’t have at least some level of other components just isn’t possible.

That doesn’t mean you can’t find other CBD products that are close to this potent or that function as CBD isolates, but flower isn’t the way to go if this is your goal.

While it may not be doable to get a 100% CBD flower, you can still find options that are potent enough to stand out from the rest.

Choosing a CBD flower that meets your needs may take some level of experimentation, but with so many options out there, there’s certainly a lot of potential.

What Is The Most Potent CBD Flower?

Indoor CBD flower (product that is grown solely indoors in specific, controlled environments) is, across the board, the most potent type of CBD flower out there.

The ability to closely monitor and adjust the way hemp flower is grown makes it possible for sellers to avoid losing potency due to things like exposure to the elements, pests, and more.

I was born with Cystic Fibrosis, and although it is incurable, cannabinoids have been allowing me to live my life as a healthy adult now for years. For that reason, I’ve dedicated my career to spreading the good news about cannabinoids. Currently, I work for a cannabis distribution company called Humble Cannabis Solutions which operates in California. Previously, I worked on two cannabis farms in northern California, one of which was located in the famous Humboldt County.
