Which CBD Flower is Best for Energy? – Strain Recommendations

CBD flower is often praised for its relaxing and soothing effects, but some strains are actually great at helping you feel recharged, awake, and alert.

To locate CBD flower strains that are good for energy, it’s wise to seek out sativa strains, as these buds come from plants that produce more energizing and uplifting terpenes. Sativa strains, regardless of their potency, tend to be more uplifting than indica CBD flower strains.

Understanding just why sativas tend to be better for energy, what to look for when searching for a sativa, and whether one is right for you is a tricky process.

So, in this article, we’ll break down the answers to these questions and recommend some of our favorite products to give you some direction, because finding what you need to meet your goals shouldn’t be a challenge.

Which Gives More Energy, Sativa or Indica?

Sativa strains are well-known for their uplifting, invigorating effects and tend to be more energizing than indica strains.

But it’s certainly possible to experience either a burst in or loss or energy from either indica or sativa strains depending on the terpene profile found within.

Why Do Sativa Strains Produce a More Energized Effect?

Sativa strains tend to contain more energy-producing terpenes than indica strains, meaning they have the chemical makeup to produce an experience that feels more lively rather than relaxing.

Plants that grow and produce sativa-strain bud do have some fundamental differences; they tend to be taller and slimmer, and their leaves are usually much longer and thinner than those of indica plants.

Interestingly, the difference between indica and sativa plants, at least in the modern era of hemp cultivation and growth, grows less and less distinct over time due to extensive cross-breeding.

In terms of the way these different strains make us feel, there’s nothing in the chemical makeup of the CBD of sativas that causes different results.

Instead, terpenes, which are also naturally-occurring compounds, come into play.

Sativa plants tend to produce or lack certain terpenes, particularly myrcene, which leads to their unique physical properties but also changes the way they function.

Terpenes help give plants their taste, smell, and look, but they also work in tandem with the cannabinoids found in bud to produce the resulting experience.

Researchers aren’t entirely sure why some terpenes tend to produce certain results, but there’s plenty of anecdotal evidence to suggest that terpenes are the main factor that set some strains of CBD flower apart from others.

Two different strains with the same level of CBD, for instance, may produce very distinct effects thanks to the terpene profile they carry along with them.

How Long Does it Take to Feel the Effects of CBD Flower?

If you smoke or vape your CBD flower, you’ll likely begin to notice the effects within just a few minutes. Because inhalation introduces CBD into your lungs and bloodstream very easily and rapidly, it’s one of the best ways to feel nearly instant results.

Generally, these effects peak in intensity after around 15-25 minutes and begin to plateau or mellow out from there.

The tradeoff of smoking or vaping, then, is how quickly the results can go away. But, it’s easy to simply smoke some more to restore them.

Alternatively, you can opt to use your CBD flower in an edible or beverage by creating a CBD oil, tincture, etc. from decarboxylated buds.

If you choose to take this route, the effects of your flower will take much longer to show up, usually about an hour or two.

How Long Do the Uplifting Effects of CBD Flower Last?

The most intense of the uplifting effects you notice from your CBD flower will probably last around 15-25 minutes after smoking or vaping, but they likely won’t completely disappear for about 2-4 hours, depending on how much you’ve smoked.

If you’ve consumed your CBD flower orally, like in an edible, you can expect the effects to last much longer, even up to 6 to 8 hours.

Even when you begin to feel your CBD wearing off, it’s possible to still feel recharged by your flower; boosts to your mood, relief from pain, and more productivity, alongside other things, can all make the effects of your product feel like they’re more extensive than just how you feel after taking a few hits.

Wrapping Up

When it comes to curating an energizing and uplifting experience, sativa CBD flower strains are certainly the way to go.

These strains, while not necessarily stronger than other options, contain terpene profiles that allow them to produce mood-lifting, energy-shifting, and overall refreshing results.

Sativa strains aren’t all that different from indica strains despite this fact, though.

The plants that produce the bud itself can look and smell slightly different, but they are all hemp plants that produce CBD-rich hemp flower. Sativa plants don’t produce fundamentally different CBD, either.

Think of sativa and indica strains like siblings; they share a wide profile of similarities due to their common heritage, but they’re still individual and distinct.

Because of this individuality, it’s a good idea to understand not just how these types of strains differ, but how they can be used to work to your advantage, even within the same day.

The variety of flower types out there is a great thing, but it can certainly be confusing and overwhelming. That’s why we’re committed to making it easy and straightforward to find the products you need at a price that makes sense.

Our directory offers a lot of amazing flower options, whether they be sativa, indica, or hybrid strains, that can help you learn more about your preferences and what works for you.
